Welcome to PureHer: Where Food, Movement & Real Life Meet
If you’ve ever stood in the kitchen thinking:
“I should know what to eat by now.”
“I just want steady energy and less overthinking.”
“I don’t want my daughter growing up with the same food worries I had.”
…then you’re exactly who I had in mind when I created PureHer.
This isn’t a space for perfect meal prep photos or rigid rules. It’s for women and teen girls living real, busy, sometimes chaotic lives who still want to feel well-fuelled, confident, and a little more at home in their bodies—through food, movement, and everyday habits that actually fit their day.
I’m Jess, the nutritionist behind PureHer—and this is the beginning of our corner of the internet together.
Why I started PureHer (and why this blog exists)
I didn’t arrive here as someone who always had it all together with food, training, and routines. I arrived here as a mum of two learning how to balance school schedules, sports, studies, travel, and the never-ending “what’s for dinner?” question.
As someone who has called Australia, Bangkok, Shanghai, Germany, and now Suzhou home, constantly relearning how to shop, cook, and nourish my family in new environments. And as a woman who has definitely felt the pull toward doing it all perfectly—believing that if I could just find the right way to eat and move, everything else might fall neatly into place.
Studying nutrition and exercise helped me understand the science. Living real life—with long weeks, teenagers, and different cultures—helped me understand something else:
“Most of us don’t need more rules. We need less noise and more clarity.”
PureHer grew out of that realisation.
This blog, THE PUREHER COLLECTIVE, exists to:
Gently cut through the noise
Offer small, steady shifts instead of extremes
Help you and your teen navigate food, hormones, movement, and daily life in a way that actually fits your reality.
Who this space is for?
You might see yourself in one (or more) of these:
You’re an active woman—maybe you run, ride, lift, walk, or just like to move—and you’re tired of guessing how to fuel and still feel like yourself.
You’re cycle-curious, noticing how different phases of your cycle change your mood, hunger, and training—but you’re not sure what to do with that information.
You’re a parent of a teen girl, wanting her to build a healthy relationship with food and her body in a world full of confusing, often unkind messages.
You’re simply done with all-or-nothing thinking and want food, movement, and self-care to feel clearer, calmer, and more sustainable.
If any of that feels familiar, you belong here.
You won’t find “good foods vs bad foods” or “perfect” routines. You’ll find guidance, not judgement, and ideas you can experiment with in your own time.
What you can expect from THE PUREHER COLLECTIVE
Over time, this space will grow into a mix of nutrition, movement, and lifestyle support, including:
Simple, realistic recipes
Not restaurant-level, just meals and snacks you can actually put together on a Tuesday, using ingredients that are easy to find.Cycle-smart insights
Short, practical posts on what’s happening across your cycle and how small tweaks in food, training, or recovery can support your energy and mood—without turning your life into a project.Performance and energy guidance
Ideas for fuelling before and after training, staying steady during long workdays, and recovering well—minus the elite-athlete-only jargon.Support for teens & families
Ways to talk about food at home, support active teens, make lunches feel manageable, and create a family environment where food is fuel, comfort, and connection—not something to fear or constantly control.Everything here will be:
Evidence-based – grounded in solid science
Practical – something you could actually try this week
Free from extremes – no detoxes, no “earn your food” messaging, no fear-based tactics
What I won’t do herE
I think it’s just as important to be clear about what this space isn’t.
No before-and-after body photos as proof of worth or success
No strict “follow this or fail” meal or exercise plans
No moral language around food (“good”, “bad”, “cheating”)
No shaming, fear-mongering, or “if you really cared, you’d…” messaging.
I’m not here to tell you you’re doing everything wrong.
I’m here to help you find what works for your life—right now, with your routine, your culture, your responsibilities, and your goals.
I’m in it with you
I’m not writing from a perfectly controlled bubble. I’m writing as someone who has:
Navigated relocations, new languages, new routines, new supermarkets—and all the small challenges that come with starting again.
Felt the mental load of feeding a family while working, studying, training, and trying to keep some sense of self.
Watched a teenage daughter and son grow up and cared deeply about the messages they receive about food, bodies, and performance.
So when I share frameworks, recipes, or cycle-smart ideas, they’re not coming from a pedestal. They’re coming from the same place you might be:
“Life is full. I need this to be do-able.”
How to use this space
You don’t have to read every post or try every suggestion. Instead, I’d love you to treat this blog like a toolbox:
On a week when you feel drained by 3 pm → reach for a post on Fuel
When your cycle feels confusing → explore a Cycle-Sync piece
When your teen is struggling with body image or food confidence → dive into a Thrive article
When movement feels hard to fit in → look for simple activity and lifestyle ideas that match your energy.
Take what helps. Leave what doesn’t. Come back when you’re ready.
What’s coming next!
In the posts to come, you’ll see things like:
“What a ‘good enough’ breakfast looks like when you’re busy”
“Fueling for training without overhauling your whole diet”
“How to talk about food with your teen without focusing on weight”
“Cycle-smart tweaks that don’t take over your life”
“Small movement habits that support energy when life is already full”
Each one will be grounded in the same idea: “Small, steady shifts. Clear guidance. Support that fits your day.”
If you’d like more support right now…
This blog is here for ongoing guidance—but if you’re ready for more personalised help, that’s where my PureHer programs come in.
Together, we can:
Support your energy and performance through FUEL
Bring more ease and understanding to your cycle with Cycle-SYNC
Help your teen build a calmer, more confident relationship with food through THRIVE.
No extremes. No perfection. Just progress that fits your real life.
And if all you do today is read this and think, “Okay, I’m not the only one who finds this hard,” that is a real and important beginning too.
Welcome to PureHer. I’m glad you’re here 🤎
